Care

Jesus tells us in Mark 12:30-31 to love our neighbour as ourselves. While Jesus had a very broad definition of who are neighbour is (parable of the Samaritan) it seems in the UK that we are not so good at being a loving neighbour to those immediately living on our street.

House of Light in part, is seeking to ‘bring a sense of community’ back to our streets.

We provide weekly suggestions that may relate to events going on nationally – in our newsletter.

The Every day stuff

Be a good neighbour, don’t park in a way that annoys your neighbour, help if you can your neighbour with the bins if they are elderly, ill or disabled. Simply saying hello and being friendly, taking the post in for a neighbour, are all easy stuff we should all be doing.

Hospitality

Aimed at raising money for Macmillan nurses.  Not only is this a familiar event, but also helps raise money to support almost 3.5 million people living with cancer. Again the website has all you need to run a successful event, but there are plenty on and sometimes its just best to attend one already organised. It is a great place to meet new neighbours. These usually take place in September
